Tucker Carlson has grown over the past few years. Or so he would like you to believe. Having peeled off the bow tie, perhaps saw someone about some Botox, and possibly trying to not be fired from every media outlet he has worked for, he is trying to become something he is not -- a centrist. Gasp!
I awoke to this video at Media Matters today where Carlson claims that Americans do not think all Muslims are terrorist because he personally does not know anyone who would say that. So, AG embarked on her own research. Though, I don't believe I know any of Carlson's personal or business contacts and he did quantify his claims with "almost never", whatever that means, research suggests that Carlson has himself a revisionist history and is pandering to the anti- Glenn Beck crowd. (Something I believe Bill O'Reilly is aggressively and somewhat silently beginning to do as Fox News viewer rates continue to decline.)
Carlson might not say all, but he suggest a lot.
He verbally roughs up Ibrahim Hooper because the guy won't come out and bash Islamic terrorists and when Hooper calls him out on the reality that not all Muslims are terrorists, he changes his topics and then goes on to say he does believe it with quoting stats.
Though, the Tea Party represents a small fraction of society, it's members are getting the message, Carlson refuses to believe others would say. The Tea Party Head Says It:
I also have to question why for someone who does not want to say "all", he makes the distinction to better understand exactly what "terrorist" means. Surely it is not because he wants to ensure his personal postings to Urban Dictionary are more accurate than Beck's?
Now that video was steaming hot. You know, like a horse's shit. I am delighted to hear him say that he's not very judgmental. Whew. AG was beginning to think otherwise.
In addition to his pant tent, be sure to notice that he denies other than Huffington Post, there "aren't very many" websites or blogs that report political topics of interest. P-value, please? And the reason that might be, is because with folks like TPM, Huffington, Media Matters, Open Left, etc., how many more people do we need to tell us that Corporate America is fucking American citizens and that George W. Bush was probably the biggest douche nozzle of a president just short of Ronald Regan during the years I have been alive, if not ever.
Or is it rather what he not so subtly points out, there are not enough media outlets on the Internet that are spewing bullshit lies from the right side of the political spectrum? You know because the mainstream media and Faux News, aren't doing enough to brainwash Americans. How can this guy own up to all of what he has alluded to about Muslims and Islam, when he purposely refutes fact and history? Then again, he finds it reprehensible that people tell him how to live his life or deny his freedom of speech, but he does not feel others have that same right.
Let's not stop there, let's go to his religious friends who very nicely state for us that research concludes that approximately 50% of Americans and Europeans associate Muslims, at some level, with terrorism. Carlson can argue that not all Americans believe this and of those who do, they may not state that all Muslims are terrorists, but that is just a mouth full of words to obscure the reality that many Americans do in fact think Muslims are terrorists. And that is a concern in my mind of equal caliber as those who say all Muslims are terrorists.
