The press is still stuck within their he said-she said mentality, so it does take something pretty whackaloon to make the straights sit up and notice, though.

ReplyDeleteI think the Zombie is absolutely right, and I think it has, and will have, much larger implications in the future.
ReplyDeleteObama WILL lose favorable points because the economy sucks and congress has turned his sharply defined agenda into a clusterfuck. Not his fault, not even within his control, but voters blame incumbents because that's the only option they have.
But when November 2010 and 2012 come along, and the time comes to actually put a mark next to a name on a ballot, the republicans are going to discover that spewing ignorant, lunatic nonsense isn't going to get them any votes outside of the ignorant lunatic 28%.
So while Obama and company might otherwise become vulnerable and people might be willing to let the "conservatives" have another whack at it, the fact that they've only been willing to play the role of scary, uninformed nutjob will prevent them from taking advantage.
