Hey ho, it's the Friday Random Ten!
Sorry I haven't been posting much. Meatspace requirements intrude, yet again, and the wetware is straining.
But I can do a Ten! In deference to Zelmo, I'm going to skip the self-audit. It's going to come out at 6.8 or so anyway, right?
Two things to say about the Alito confirmation.
1. For a smarmy, grinning authoritarian squeezebag of a corporate shill who's got the demeanor of an wax dummy, and can't hide the fact that he's tickled pink that the vote is greased, he's sure been able to provide a butt-load of non-answers, hasn't he? Can we use a few of those Guantanamo 'stress positions'? Maybe a dog or two? I, for one, will accede to our autocratic corporate masters when they are ushered into control of our lives (especially you women) but did they have to do it through the device of an animatronic shill who can't wait to start dismantling the Bill of Rights, but won't admit it? If you're going to destroy the American Experiment, at least be upfront about it.
2. Lady, politics is rough. Wear a cup, or learn to fake tears better.
Now to the music: for verification purposes, this one will be off the iPod: 11,404 songs, 46.48 gigs of music.
1. Just Plain Evil from the album “Clam Dip and Other Delights - EP” by Soul Asylum
2. The Game from the album “Crystal Days (1979-1999) (Disc 3)” by Echo & The Bunnymen
3. Just Like A Man from the album “Mutiny” by Too Much Joy Aaaah, TMJ. what is there to say? snotty punks who just missed making it huge, but unfortunately also presaged Blink-182.
4. Nimrod's Son from the album “Surfer Rosa & Come On Pilgrim” by Pixies
5. Gates to the Garden from the album “No More Shall We Part” by Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds
6. Books About UFO's from the album “The Living End” by Hüsker Dü
7. Wish Full Fillment from the album “Dirty” by Sonic Youth Pixies, Nick cave, Husker and the Sonics. wow, that's an aggro set.
8. All That That Implies from the album “Resigned” by Michael Penn As Michael Penn said, it wasn't exactly a New Year's Rockin' eve, but it was tremendous fun and a proper way to discard that last hairball of a year.
9. Modern Times Rock 'N' Roll from the album “Queen” by Queen
10. All The World Is Green from the album “Blood Money” by Tom Waits
bonus 2:
11. Shortwave Transmission On “Up To The Minuteman Nine” from the album “This Is The Day...This Is The Hour...This Is This!” by Pop Will Eat Itself
12. No Queen Blues from the album “Washing Machine” by Sonic Youth
one mulligan. sue me, it really sucked.
lots of loud, noisy music though. Pretty good Friday.

I'm posting a rebuttal to your random with my XM random (sorry, no iPod yet). Consider my $13/month subscription as my access to a music library owned and operated by a bunch of guys with a lot of cool music. Much better than I could do.
ReplyDeleteFeaturing channel 44 (Fred)in temporal order:
1. Charlatans U.K - "One To Another"
2. Devo - "Through Being Cool"
3. Simple Minds - "Stand By Love"
4. Pretenders - "My Baby"
5. OMD - Enola Gay
6. Teenage Fanclub - "Star Sign"
7. World Party - "Is It Like Today"
8. Laurie Anderson - "Baby Doll"
9. Jane's Addiction - "Ain't No Right"
10. Gang of Four - "I Love A Man In A Uniform"
I understand that this still reveals nothing about me personally and everything about the XM programmers. Indulge me.
Consider yourself indulged.
ReplyDeleteNice set. But where's the danger? Where's the inherent chance that 'Forever in Blue Jeans' or your secret Leo Sayer tracks will pop up?
Danger? Or programmed badness? If you want bad, I give you channel 7 (70's on 7):
ReplyDelete1. Joe Cocker - "You are So Beautiful"
2. Johnny Rivers - "Swayin' to the Music (Slow Dancin')"
3. Thelma Houston - "Don't Leave Me This Way"
4. Rita Coolidge - "Higher and Higher"
5. The Staple Singers - "I'll Take You There"
6. Stevie Wonder - "Boogie on Reggae Woman"
7. BTO - "Takin Care of Business"
8. Joni Mitchell - "Help Me"
9. Beatles - "Let It Be"
10. Steam - "Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye)"
Wait a minute. I like all this. What the hell is wrong with me?
