On the Road, Out of Town, Zombie Incommunicado, Hold my Calls. Visiting the Town Of the Broken Down Dome, to see two of my favoritest bands in the world, with some of my favoritest bloggers. Bail has been escrowed, the Vortex of Shenanigans has been relocated, and CarZombie has been fueled.
It has been said that Pirner and Murphy sing together like fallen angels on a two week bender.
Now everybody's looking after me,
if I'm dragging by some coat tail,
I can't see it's too dark,
but I've got to know what's got the best of me.
When the circus that you left goes on parade,
and those things you see seem so far in your charade,
too far,
but I'm feeling like I don't dare look away,
Don't look away.
Did it almost make you feel,
that something's got to happen soon,
when you wake up feeling lost in your own room.
If you're crying in your beer you're gonna drown,
if you think we'll rise above,
you'd better look around,
you'll see.
It's a mountain made of sand crumbling over me.
Maybe I'm chasing shadows on your wall,
they loom so large,
but make me feel so small somehow,
when you're chasing your own tail spinning your own wheels.
And a time to leave,
and a time to stay,
I guess the things I look away.
Did it almost make you feel that somethings gotta happen soon.
You're in the movies now and I'm in your cartoon.
There's a ringing in my ears that's heaven sent.
There's a beast out on the ruins,
some broken down lover's lament.
It goes on and on but it won't go away.
Advance warning: If and when they play this songo, I am diving into the stage front, pit or no. I will not be able to help myself.
Also, Barstool Blues.
The most memorable (as in loud, but also near the tippy top as in good, also) ringing in my ears was sent by The Who in New Haven Coliseum circa 1982-1983.
ReplyDeleteThe Ramones at Toad's Place in the same time-frame is up there too...smaller speaker tower, but in a big bar rather than a coliseum.
Have fun, and make sure you don't get yourself into a bigger bail situation than your escrow can handle (sorry, it's the underwriter talking).

I will keep you on speed dial just in case.

was that the tour they did with the Clash?
No, I can remember who the opening act was (if it was the Clash, I sure would have!).
ReplyDeleteI never saw the Clash live, he sobbed.
~
Don't feel bad; I only saw them once on the Cut The Crap tour.
ReplyDeleteCartoon's a great song. Saw them back when Pirner was still mowing lawns.
ReplyDeleteHave fun, ZRM! Say hello to Crow.
ReplyDeleteYou mean the golden dog-bird?
ReplyDeleteBe careful in the pit, ain't none of us getting younger!

ReplyDeleteI think Thunder and I may have crossed paths in our youth w/o knowing it.
Also Black Flag @ Toad's. That was loud.
Safe travels. I have some $$ put to the side for your bail if you need it.
