Kicking It Up A Notch

There's a huge reason that I have not been blogging much lately. OK, a huge laundry list of reasons. A plethora one might suggest. Perhaps a behemoth. Or even quintiles, if you will. I could spend time sharing all the reasons or cut to the condensed Hollywood version.

But that just wouldn't be AG. No, not here.

The Internets have eyes.

And assholes.

And well.

Enough said.

So, instead why don't we talk of something more interesting.

Like the anger I have over the fact that cervical cancer in women residing in Appalachia is higher than the general population of US women.

Women are more likely to be listed last on published research of more than five authors. There is a reason if you know something about APA standards.

Abortion is becoming obsolete in America by the mere fact that it will remain legal, with few providers available to perform it.

Fertility clinics still remain unregulated. Gender cherry picking is legal as a result. (And often encouraged.)

People who call out sexism are often guilty of it themselves.

No matter how you slice it, what you think and what you say in public should frequently be the antithesis of each other.

And most importantly, my daughter is turning one this week! I am a very proud Mere (We're working on a second language with the expected move in the near future). While she'll have a small family party and a big ostentatious event in addition later this week, I am simply looking forward to more cuddle time like we shared earlier this morning when she cried in my arms as I explained that I needed to go to my office because mommas cannot package up fellowships and send them back. It would be nice, oh yes indeed it would... Alas, it's not possible.

Yes, is it beginning to show that I am using the phrase "ET al." more and more these days; especially in mundane conversations, cleaning my oven to perfection, and avoiding writing up this damn thing?

  1. Et cetera helps, too, also.
