Big Zombie

Well, I drove east, but I didn't go home
I just drove out past the false-front neon signs
Great double trucks rumble on the coast road
I'm just not human tonight
Start up in low, and watch them go
With a growl like lions in the zoo

Pardon merci, je suis le grande zombie
I'm just not human tonight

The air got cooler as the highway narrowed
Stinking ocean breeze ran through the night
The cars got fewer and their headlights hurt
I'm just not human tonight
Well, they're just restless, just like you
They've got to take the car out and drive somewhere

Pardon merci, je suis le grande zombie
And I'm just not human tonight

People falling down upon their knees
Watch the night crash down around their ears

I pulled into an all-night cafe
Just to stretch my legs and take a bite
But I couldn't face a naked dinner on a plate
I'm just not human tonight
So pull them in and throw them out
They'd be better off eating cat food at home

Pardon merci, je suis le grande zombie
I'm just not human tonight

fuck, I love these guys. Just a bunch of cuddly socialist punk folkies. Isn't that poetry?

  1. Just steer clear of Cincinatti.

  3. Tonight I feel ambitious and so does my foot as it sinks on the pedal
I press it to the floor
    I don't need a girl don't need a friend cause my friend lonesome's
    Unconditional
    We're flying forever bored
And for a moment I love everything
That I see and think and feel
I love my broken side view mirror
    Cause its so perfect
I'm so perfect you're so perfect you're not here
    I hear the changing gear

My pile shakes as I hit eighty on the open road
This is an open road song

  8. The same year that World War Z hit the bestseller list, David Wellington saw Monster Island, a zombie holocaust tale, published under the Thunder's Mouth imprint. The book had begun as a novel serialized for free at the author's blog site, and its instant notoriety netted him a print contract for the trilogy that ultimately came to comprise Monster Nation (2006) and Monster Planet (2007).

I'd like a piece of that!
