Beyond & Back

So finally, a bit of the random Musical poopery. See if you can guess the theme!!

1. Monsters from the album "Come Away From the Light" by The Scarring Party. MIlwaukee band that uses tuba, banjo, accordion, and processed old-timey vocals to present punky goth songs about horrible, horrible things. I like 'em.

2. Sweet Potato from the album "Kerosene Hat" by Cracker Cracker is one of the most unpretentious bands I've seen. Little preening or rockstar poses on stage. But the other night, they didn't seem to be very excited to be playing to a pretty large crowd at the US Cellular stage, they played barely over an hour.

3. Bend My Bones from the album "All That's Normal Turns To Chaos" by The Invaders

4. armageddon from the album "In the Red Room" by Pat MacDonald Pat's originally from Madison and lives in Sturgeon Bay, and has always been kind of a DIY punk-folkie. Scored an unlikely hit in the 80's with his wife in Timbuk 3, was treated abysmally by the labels when they refused to become hit machines, and has been knocking about ever since. Usually plays with a cheap, snarly guitar (including one made from a cigar box) and a stomp box.

5. Dreamline (Live) from the album "Snakes & Arrows (Live)" by Rush

6. Climbing the Walls from the album "The Else" by They Might Be Giants

7. Still the Night from the album "Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams" by BoDeans I wrote about these fellas here.

8. he's burning up
from the album "I Command You To Dance" by Something To Do

9. Starry Eyed from the album "Summerfest Emerging Artists Series Vol. III" by Five Star Iris

10. Let's Play Two from the album "Major Lodge Victory" by Gin Blossoms

11. Chip N' Tony from the album "Real Animal" by Alejandro Escovedo Alejandro smokes. Nuff said.

12. Comeback from the album "Space" by AutoVaughn

13. Everything I Touched Caught Fire from the album "Come Away From the Light" by The Scarring Party Simply an excellent song title.

14. Night Train from the album "Pop Filter" by Fools & Horses

15. Walking Away from the album "The Ghost And The Hired Gun [Advance]" by The Alarmists

Didja guess yet? That's right, George Bush is an Asshole! Oh wait, that's the theme of the last eight years. Sorry.
