As BG points out, we should all be about spreading the linky-love.
So, in order to spread around the vast several hits per day I get to the 'lesser-traveled' bloggos, I think it pertinent to note that Sadly, No has seen the light!
As you may see from this recent post of theirs, "The Quality Of Modesty Is Not Strnen"
Which is a nod, of course, to the Mekons' debut album, released lo those many years ago in the Year Of Punk 1979.
You know, you should forgive the Sadlies if the post itself somehow has nothing to do whatsoever with the Mekes. They're new at this; they need a little slack if they haven't quite grasped the magic formula that drives the throngitudes to my corner of the Highways Digital.
Good Golly, I think I channeled a little Pastor Swank there. It felt like goatse.
Not related to anything in particular but in case you're planning on wandering out towards St. Paul in March I thought you'd be interested.

The Current Fakebook with Greil Marcus and musical guests The Mekons
8 p.m.
The Fitzgerald Theater
Tickets: $20; Minnesota Public Radio members receive a discount.
Greil Marcus, the dean of American rock writers and wide-ranging cultural critic, talks with The Current's Mary Lucia for this installment of The Current Fakebook. He will be joined by musical guests The Mekons, Marcus's personal choice for the show. The Mekons come out of England's industrial north during the first wave of punk and went on to be one of the founders of the alt-country movement in the '80s, mixing humor, beauty and politics into their music. The group marked their 30th anniversary in 2007 with the release of "Natural," their 26th record.
I love those highways digital!
ReplyDeleteBetter than the Local Roads Icy, K. Take my word for it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Snag. We Mekonistas had seen the gig, of course; the night before they play in Madison, so I could conceivably Dead-head it all the way up.
Except, of course, that we are going to NY that week. Dang.
I love that the Mekes were Greil's first choice. Based on Langford's loosely autobiographical "Executioner's Last Songs" multi media extravaganza, they have many stories to tell. I'd recommend it, if you have the inclination.
Anyone who wants to join me, beer's on me.
ReplyDeleteSnag, are you spilling again?
ReplyDelete'The Highways Digital' sounds like what 'the Monkees' would be named today.
ReplyDeleteBP- that bathwater has got to be cold by now. No wonder the babe's hair is standing on end.
ReplyDeleteNow that you mention it, there is beer all over me.
