That Man Jumped Out The Window

. . . imagine a puddle waking up one morning and thinking, 'This is an interesting world I find myself in'an interesting hole I find myself in'fits me rather neatly, doesn't it? In fact it fits me staggeringly well, must have been made to have me in it!' This is such a powerful idea that as the sun rises in the sky and the air heats up and as, gradually, the puddle gets smaller and smaller, it's still frantically hanging on to the notion that everything's going to be alright, because this world was meant to have him in it, was built to have him in it; so the moment he disappears catches him rather by surprise. I think this may be something we need to be on the watch out for.

  1. Cool quote. Don't recall reading it before-- is it from an interview with Adams? Out of curiousity, what does the title of your post have to do with the post itself? Maybe it's just that's it Friday and my head feels like a lint trap in an industrial dryer, but I don't get it.

  2. It was from the lament by Richard Dawkins, wherein he referenced a talk Adams gave to some group of scientists.

the title of the post was simply the song that was playing, and it seemed like it may have some relationship to Adams and his work. Or not. It's up to you, I guess, to decide if it matters.

What I am personally surprised at is that for well over a year, I've been titling posts based on song titles and not one comment has been made about the song regardless of whether the song is obscure or widely well known.

What I wonder is it because nobody really gives a crap, or whether nobody realized that I've adopted this lame affectation, or the songs are generally too obscure. In any case, I intend to continue out of sheer bloody-minded stubbornity at this point. You may refer to me as the Song-Naming Zax.
