Nothing Worth Living For

This year is Summerfest's 40th anniversary.

I got some decent feedback for the Summerfestblog, and am planning to do it again. Don't know if I'll go for the eleventy-fest again. although it wasn't as wasting as I thought it would be. Maybe I was doing it wrong.

I plan to have a new Applephone for it, so I'll be able to blog and photo directly from the grounds. Sounds like trouble to me.

But, but, but.... what do they do to me? They start announcing shows in January, and the first thing they book is friggin Toby Keith.

This, is wrong so wrong. Fuckity fuck fuck.

The only thing for it is to get the Figgs to play, if not the Mekons.

  1. I'm all for you going to Summerfest. However, what's up with the Apple phone? Don't be their monkey. Don't give into the Apple addiction that America has given into. Be differnt. Be strong. Be anything by Altmouse!!

  3. He does strike me as one of those big talking 'all hat no cattle' type of guy.

I blogged from last year when Toby was at the Fest: http://web.mac.com/blm/iWeb/Summerfestblog/Fest-Blog/F9302A1A-4665-44C5-98AE-2413A6BD412B.html Not surprisingly, his fans were kinda lightweights too.

AG, that comment is too funny. Considering the history of Apple. You probably don't remember when the Microsofties were comparing the Mac to the Betamax, and us Macheads got nothing but grief for using something non-Gates approved.... But the Phone looks like it will be doing what I need. I got some big old claws here, and the teeny little phones with teen-tiny little keyboards do not fit.

  4. Tis true, that I am not seeing Mac as the anti-Windows because if I see one more iPod ad on the subway and one more middle-aged "child" wearing those buds, I swear to Satan that I am going to hurt someone.

AG is banning all things apple. Including produce from Washington State!

  5. well, Girlfriend, I need to warn you that I am one of those middle aged children wearing the 'buds; have been since the first G iPod came out- having tried any number of portable tape players, CD players, mp3 players, it's the first one that has actually worked in a way that isn't painful in some way. I don't want to be responsible for yet another Angry Liberal hurting people. You know how endemic that has become.

The Mac isn't really the anti-windows, not anymore. It's just a well made, good looking computer that is easy and reliable, low maintenance, and well-designed both on aesthetic and pragmatic grounds. It's an alternative to Windows, for people who are willing to look for something different.

Like someone who has gotten tired of their SUV and wants a hybrid.

As for me, I pity most of the middle aged children weatring the iPods because I know that they are on their way to a cubicle farm, where they must submit to the anti-personal computing environment of Windows, eroding another tiny amount of their soul every day; the iPod is nearly their only avenue of freedom anymore.

  6. Yecch. TK is one of those 'new country' hacks in the vein of Billy Ray Cyrus. I like the country, but these guys are marketing initiatives, not musicians. Slap a big hat on 'em and sell 'em to America with their trucks.

TK's dissing the Dixie Chicks just goes to show you that he has no class; His original support of the war shows his mindless jingoism and inability to think clearly (cuz really, the war was obviously such a bad idea, only the terminally clueless or greedily hypocritical couldn't admit it up front); and his claim to have always been opposed to the war now just clearly demonstrates that he's as big a liar as the Preznit.

But I can ridicule his fans when they show up at S-Fest.
