Planned Parenthood -- More than abortion services

Reading this type of rants by the anti-abortion crowd bring the book, 1984 to mind. This alarmist irrational style of journalism stirs up the dust bunnies in an effort to create a fictional scenario to scare others into a kind of magical thinking that is required to take these folks seriously. The religious right and other friends and family plan members frequently write nonsense that is chock full of false statements, assumptions, lies, and smears. The latest is all of that and more.

Not only is Planned Parenthood more than abortion services, the organization does not move into neighborhoods trolling for innocent victims. Despite what the anti-abortion movement seeks to claim, without documented factual support, women of all ages, races, and social classes seek out the services of Planned Parenthood on their own for a variety of their healthcare needs. In fact, Planned Parenthood does not spend the budget that private insurers do on advertising and in doing so, they appeal to many women because they provide more for less and rarely have to turn away patients telling them having a vagina is a pre-existing condition and not covered under their current plan.

Rather, Planned Parenthood is a non profit organization that gives women access to gynecological services that many other organizations fail to provide for them at a cost they can afford and/or access easily. The anti-abortion mafia, as I have come to believe they are with their killings and the Federal Marshals who refuse to protect Carhart but will provide protection against other forms of domestic terrorism, surmise without evidence that Planned Parenthood has an interest and will run healthcare clinics located in schools. This is news to me since there are many non-medical school affiliated universities that could use the talents and leadership of Planned Parenthood. And yet, Planned Parenthood isn't kicking down the doors of West Chester University, Oberlin College, or Harcum Junior College. They also did not take over the weekend health clinic at Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Framingham, MA. more...

  1. I've been pretty much a lifetime donor to Planned Parenthood. They do great work.

  2. The outrage factory will continue to churn out nonsense in opposition to PP and attempts to de-fund it will go on.

My family is also a supporter and we try to debunk the bull wherever we can. Mostly, we speak with our dollars. PP does great work.
