Musical Philistine Cubed

I thought it was bad when I had a roomate in college who didn't know who Keith Richards was.

On Saturday, I was proved wrong. It is bad when you don't know this song! I weep for the future of America:

  3. Kathleen- it was Tanorexic Blayne!! I thought Tim was going to fall over when Blayne was like, "Huh??? Sgt who??? Wha?? Is my tan fading??"

London Calling has been used in so many things, I can't believe a person hasn't heard it, even if they weren't around for the original release.

  4. many moons ago, someone in my office once asked me "Paul Westerberg was in a band?" when I mentioned the Replacements.

You're getting older, AG. Not to say that the country ISN'T doomed.

  6. I've heard this song but I don't like it.

I do like Rock the Casbah, for a few seconds until I think to myself, ugh, and turn it off.

  7. so sad. when i mention the clash most people are like.. who?

this song rocks my face off, and i could listen to it 10 times a day for the rest of my life. and then sing along to it another 10 times.

AA it is sad that you dont get the let's have fun with the end of the world type music that this song represents.

(i fail to recognize the existence of those ignorant of the beatles. they cannot exist!!!)

  8. btw, rock the casbah is weak for clash stuff. i prefer 'should i stay or should i go' if you want to get all pop-rock-y with the clash. you wanna get hardcore, listen to ghetto defendant!

  9. I am totally down with the end of the world, hardcore even, but I just find the Clash to be whiny and hollow. I hate U2 more than the Clash though, if that makes you less sad for me.

I'll be blasting Tool when the world ends. I'm praying for rain, la de da.

  10. U2..... the less said the better!

the clash is just great jumping around music. Tool is too mopey for me, behind the thrashing of guitars.

  11. "Paul Westerberg was in a band?"

I would have said, "Who's Paul Westerberg?"

    Yes. I'm far too young.

Go ahead and say it if you must.
