Nothing's Shocking

Scott Mclellan lied when he was Press secretary.

Wait! There's more!

He was told to do so by Bush, Cheney, Andrew Card and Scooter Libby.

...but I don't hate them. Not a one.

Impeach, goddammit.

  1. I loved your comment BP:

    "I believe in Justice."

    Amen, Brotha.

And isn't it something that Scotty divulging this info (like it was SUCH A SHOCKER) is just going to go the way of all the other crud that's happened over the last seven years.

It's truly amazing to me that all of this can slide.

    Truly.

  2. I've never been a big fan of impeachment. The impeachment effort against Clinton, for example, was absurd. Clinton was a liar and a cheat, but those large personal shortcomings are separate from his responsibilities as President. Impeachment is the true "nuclear option" in the Federal Government's structure.

That said, I'm leaning towards agreeing with you BP. The amount of deception, power grabbing and undermining of the Constitution that has occurred or been attempted by this administration is appalling.

A quick comment. I do not hitch my political allegiance to the Republican Party as claimed in your comment at my blog. I am perfectly willing to vote for a Democrat if I think he or she is the better option. Indeed if the options in the fall of '08 are Obama and Giuliani or Thompson I will almost certainly vote for Obama.

Two quick questions. I admit to not really knowing what cobaggery is or where the term came from. I get the gist of it from the context of its usage, but what exactly is it? And what's with the use of teh for the word "the"? Is that just a poke at bloggers who inadvertently type the incorrectly (easy to do) and don't edit their work, or is there more to it?

Hopelessly out of tune with the blogosphere I can only hope for enlightenment. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

  3. Oh, I hate 'em. Hate them all. Fuckers. Fuck, fuckety, fuck, fuck, fuckers. I try to rise above and then you hear more of this endless, lying, finagling crap and not only do I feel myself hating what they do, I then I hate them. They don't even try to hide the fact that they are buggering us and the Constitution while filling their pockets.

And yes, I'm sure Scotty was so surprised... wtf.

Yes, impeach indeed, every last one of them.

  4. Clinton, a liar and a cheat?

Ok, liar in the strictest sense of the word; he lied about a consensual sex activity with an adult. As you point out, no bearing on his acts as President.

But you say it as if he had a constant pattern of lying, like Bush has had. Where is that ?

And Cheat? what does this refer to?

I think you may be succumbing to a little irrational hatred of your own, my friend.

  5. IMpeach, impeach, impeach.

I am fascinated to see if the independent/republican support for Obama that I see mentioned here and there will really materialize. He is, after all, quite liberal.

  6. As the local pedant, I'll simply note that "cobag" appears to be a derivative of "colostomy bag."

    "Teh" I don't have a fucking clue.

  7. Osama: except for his goofy talk about the imaginary Social Security crisis. where does that come from?

snag, dammit, I though I was the pedant around here. At least I was the one who dumped on people for spelling errors.

Pinko has a nice exposition on cobag here: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=cobag

'Teh' is a stylistic affectation, arising from the common typo misspelling of 'the' Again, good definition here: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=teh

    like Osama/Obama? tee hee

re: the imaginary Social Security crisis: I can't understand where it comes from. Too many advisors reading Joe Klein and David Broder.

  9. Clinton took the parsing of the English language to a new level-- even for a politician. He went on TV and clearly stated that he "...did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lewinski." He lied to the American people point blank. Yeah, I have trouble with my President doing that-- just like I have trouble when George Bush tells me America does not torture. But I don't think Clinton's actions reached the level of impeachability-- as I stated in my previous comment. Bush's actions do reach that level, imho. No hatred, just as impartial an examination of the situation as I can manage.

As to cheating-- well, isn't that what we call extramarital affairs? Cheating on your spouse? Sorry if you took it as cheating in the sense of winning the election or some such.

Re: Independent/Republican support for Barack-- I hope it materializes. Right now I strongly support Ron Paul, but outside of him I would take Obama over any of the other candidates in either party in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the clarifications on teh and cobag. I thought that was what teh was all about, but I never would have put together colostomy bag. Descriptive though, no doubt.

Why exactly does everyone here take for granted that the Social Security crisis is imaginary? Over-stated maybe, but the retirement of Boomers combined with increasing life-spans is not imaginary. Why dismiss any talk about SS as imaginary or off-limits? As a society we do that far, far too often. This idea or that topic are dismissed out of hand. I don't get that.

P.S. BP, your "Word Verification" check thingie for comments SUCKS. It makes me do it twice EVERY time even though it was right the first time. As an added bonus, this time around it made me do it twice and the second time... THERE WASN'T A WORD BUT I STILL HAD TO ENTER IT "AS SHOWN"!

Did you set it up to hassle Conservatives/Libertarians?

  10. Yes. Yes I did.

You Cons getting paranoid these days?

  11. in terms of lying, though, Hardly comparable to the widespread and concerted (ahem) conspiracy to disseminate half-truths, untruths, misdirections, prevarications, and out and out lies that have been the track record, if not the operating standard, of our current Administration.

The real Cheat is the performance of Ken Starr, installed to replace a prosecutor who was not insanely partisan enough, in ginning up 57 million dollars in pursuing a peccadillo.

  12. Re: SS.

It's not a refusal to discuss adjustments to Social Security, it's the framing of it as a 'crisis'

The only crisis is self-inflicted, by tax cut zealots who have used the cash positive flow of SS taxing as cover for excessive handouts.

Al Gore's lockbox was a real, workable, and viable solution; but back then, there was no interest in 'discussing' a solution, was there? we had much more to worry about with whether Gore sighed too heavily, or wore earth tones, or pretended to invent the Internet....

Until Russert and the other morons stop using crisis language, it's stupid to even try to engage them.
