The Old Gods Return

2nd year in a row:

Blue Oyster Cult at Summerfest.

They totally brought the cowbell last year.

  1. I cringe to think how many years ago I saw these guys. Or I would if I could remember.

  2. I cringe too Snag. However, that because AG cannot count that high.

  3. Oh, ye scoffers and philistines.

Remember, Snag, these guys are still older than you.

But in truth, they have come to terms with past successes vs. current fame, and seem to have reached what I call a rock band's 'Cheap Trick Moment' i.e., when they realize that even though they may never top the charts again, thye can make a living by playing rock'n'roll for fans, and it's not a bad life, after all.

They have a better time than any ironic shoe-gazer band, hipper-than-thou indie darling, or cranky grunge flannel-boys.

And they can still bring the cowbell.

  4. AG, you stop now. Someday you too shall have wisdom. In the meantime, I will not fear the reaper.

  5. "Cheap Trick Moment" :)

In regards to "Don't Fear the Reeper", when that first came out, I was taking beginning French classes. I thought they were saying, "Don't fear le rideau" which means don't fear the curtain. Who's afraid of the curtain??? Unless it's the final curtain, but still.

    And there's never enough cowbell...

  6. I believe I am in need of reestablishing a personal relationship with BOC.

Forgotten over the years: Cities On Flame with R&R, Take Me Away, Lips In The Hills.

    KILLER tracks.

  7. Lots o killer tracks, Z. And "Cities on Flame" is a live staple, although the other ones are longshots. I still haven't seen them do "Astronomy" lately.

For the cowbell, inclined, I did a S-Fest wrap-up with cowbell-report for last year here: http://web.mac.com/blm/iWeb/Summerfestblog/Fest-Blog/CDC6B502-B25C-4E9B-9B42-D63328491DAC.html

I am afraid of the curtain, now.
